Spartans U10s 2 Montagu Lions 6

This was the second week in a row when when we played top of the table opposition and another team who had won every game so far this season. Reece was unavailable due to illness and Daniel through injury.  This meant that in what was potentially our hardest game of the season so far, we only had on sub to use so the majority of the team would have to…

Cramlington Juniors Whites 4 Spartans U10s 2

Another weekend of football came around and this week, we were away to Cramlington Juniors Whites – the only unbeaten Cramlington Juniors team at this age group, so this was always going to be a difficult game. After going down 2-0 at the end of the first quarter, we fought back with goals from Brooklyn and Besty to make it 2-2 at the end of the second quarter.  This was…

Spartans U10s 2 Bedlington Juniors Barca 1

A much improved team performance saw the U10s get back to winning ways, although there was yet again another tense last quarter. The teams looked evenly matched by the end of the first quarter with no goals scored but chances at both ends.  Matthew Giloney in goal pulled off some great saves to prevent Bedlington from scoring, while at the other end our best chance fell to Lewis Best who fired…

Walker Whites 4 Spartans U10s 2

Looking at the form book before this match, this was a game we were more than capable of winning.  However, a below par performance saw us loing 4-2, with the Spartans goals from Brooklyn Holcz (his first in a green and white shirt) and Kieron Garrett.  Lewis Best ran his socks off in midfield throughout the game and just couldn’t score, with even one of his team mates getting in…

Spartans U10s 0 Ponteland Madrid 0

After last weeks poor performance, this was a good solid team performance between two very closely matched sides.  We had a shot cleared off the line that was millimetres from being over, hit the post twice and hit the bar as well as numerous near misses and saves.  However, Ponteland also had a shot cleared off the line and hiit the post as well as near misses plus a great…

Spartans U10s 0 Cramlington Juniors Blues 9

This was a game where the team as we know it did not turn out to play football today which resulted in this scoreline.  We were second best at everything and gave Cramlington a very easy game.  Having said that, their keeper pulled off at least half a dozen outstanding saves that could have made the score a lot closer.

Ashington Colliers 3 Spartans U10s 6

The U10s got off to a winning start in the league with a 6-3 win at Ashington.  A hat-trick from Lewis Best, a brace from Lewis Parker and a first goal for Spartans from Rhys Common made sure of the points in this good all round team performance.  John Paul Megson picked up the MoM award for a solid defensive performance and Matthew Giloney was awarded the Coach’s Player Award…

Spartans U10s 4 Berwick Rangers 6

Spartans versus Berwick had a familiar ring to it.  This time it was the Under 10s at home in the Divisional Cup in their first competitive game of the season and debuts were given to Matthew Giloney, Lewis Wilkinson, Adam Stobbart and Brooklyn Holcz.  Berwick took the kick off and a charge down from Lewis Best led to him taking possession and running through the Berwick midfield and defence to…
