Blyth Town v Blyth Spartans | Monday, 6 April 2026 - 15:00 | League

Blyth Spartans fell to defeat as they made the short trip to Gateway Park to face neighbours Blyth Town.

Two second half strikes from former Spartan Cyril Giraud and Alexander Fil handed Town a third victory over Spartans this season.

Spartans were once again without main marksman Jack Foalle but Jamie Clark was recalled to the starting line up after missing Saturday's victory over Silsden.

There was not much between the sides in the opening 45, Blyth Town blazed two efforts wide of the mark and Spartans were probing towards the end of the half - with decent look-ins via Rio Joisce and Paul Van-Zandvliet coming close from short range - but were unable to capitalise leaving the game level at the break.

Half Time: Blyth Town 0-0 Blyth Spartans

Blyth Town moved up a gear in the second half and looked the more likely side to break the deadlock seeing plenty of the ball in good areas.

Spartans however, broke through one on one, Jamie Clark with only the keeper to beat getting on the end of a headed through ball, but he dragged his effort wide.

The deadlock was eventually broken in the 72nd minute through Giraud, with a goal of the season contender. The ball dropped for him on the edge of the area and he unleashed a volley into the top left corner, catching it perfectly, leaving Dobson stranded.

Town wanted more after opening the scoring and the second came just five minutes later, a set piece was whipped into the area with the initial two efforts excellently saved by Callum Dobson but the rebound was eventually put away by Fil which confirmed the three points for Blyth Town.
