Blyth Spartans is delighted to announce the signing of Will McGowan on a permanent basis from South Shields.
The 20-year-old midfielder signed on an initial loan for Graham Fenton’s side in November 2022 before having the spell extended for the remainder of the 2022/23 National League North campaign.
He made 31 league appearances for the Club, scoring two goals in a brace against Curzon Ashton and became a vital component of the side during his time at Croft Park.
Speaking on the arrival of Will to the Club, Graham Fenton said: “We know how good Will was last season for the Club, I’ve obviously worked with him before in the past and I really like the way he plays the game.
“His bravery, his qualities, his character, so, when we knew he was available to bring in, we didn’t hesitate.”
Commenting on re-signing for the Club, Will said: “I enjoyed my time here last season, went back to Shields in the summer and it didn’t quite work out, so when I got the opportunity to come back here, I did all I could to make it happen.
“It’s a huge positive working with the gaffer, working with Shawsy (Jon Shaw) when I was at Shields too, obviously all the lads from last season, adding JJ (Hooper) and Bods (Jack Bodenham) to that was a real positive for me coming back too, the style of play suits me well.”
