Blyth Spartans is pleased to confirm that goalkeeper Michael Hogan has joined the Club on a permanent basis for the 2023/24 campaign.
The 18-year-old shot-stopper appeared for Newcastle United’s youth sides before joining York City and featuring prominently for the Minstermen’s under-19s side last season alongside Spartans’ new recruit Billy Gordon too.
Hogan has been described as a constant communicator with strong distribution skills who has played in numerous games for Graham Fenton’s side during pre-season as a trialist ahead of the 2023/24 National League North campaign.
Commenting on the official arrival of Michael, manager Graham Fenton said: “Michael has come in pre-season and really impressed; he’s been good in training, his attitude is fantastic, and a very good runner for a goalkeeper.
“He’s obviously a young prospect who we just want to keep an eye on for the next 12 months, he’s cover for Alex (Mitchell) if anything ever happens to Alex and he’s got the license to play in the under-19s academy team as well.
“He’ll be getting regular football this season to keep his match sharpness up, I’m really looking forward to seeing how Michael gets on.”
Welcome to the Club, Michael!
