TEAM NEWS

Spartans return to Evo-Stik Premier Division action this Saturday against Sutton Coldfield Town, a week after seeing off fellow league side Frickley Athletic in the Emirates FA Cup.

And Blyth will be hoping for more home comforts in their second game of four successive games at Croft Park, with the visit of Marine to follow on Tuesday and then the mouth-watering Emirates FA Cup second qualifying round tie with FA Vase holders Morpeth Town.

Despite The Royals only being two places above bottom club Frickley and yet to record a league win so far this season, Tom Wade’s men will not be taking their opponents lightly this weekend – after the Birmingham-based club did the double over Spartans last season. Town beat Blyth 2-1 at Croft Park last October, before following it up with a 1-0 home win in the reverse game in March.

Peter Jeffries is available again, after sitting out Spartans’ 3-1 success against Frickley last Saturday. Alex Nicholson is back in light training, but remains the only member of the squad not available for selection.

OPPOSITION MANAGER
Neil Tooth –  Took charge of The Royals in September 2012 and led them into the Evo-Stik Premier Division two seasons later, when he masterminded their success in the 2014/15 Northern Premier League Division One South playoffs.

DANGER MAN
Luke Rodgers – Has scored four goals in six games already this season and will be looking to net for the third Saturday in a row at Blyth, with goals against Workington and Eynesbury Town within the last fortnight.
