The fixture offers a great opportunity to catch a glimpse of the club's emerging talent, including players who have impressed at youth level this season, alongside a number of trialists looking to make their mark. The club's pathway continues to go from strength to strength through its partnership with Tyne Metropolitan College, providing young players with a clear route into senior football.

Recent years have seen several academy prospects step up and gain valuable experience around the first-team environment. This internal fixture is another important step in that journey, as preparations begin ahead of the new season.
