Spartans Seek General Manager

Blyth Spartans Association Football Club, an inclusive community-owned club with a proud history and an exciting future, a passionate supporter base and strong community values, is inviting applications for the volunteer role of General Manager.

This is a crucial position within the club, with responsibility for much of the day-to-day running of the off-the-pitch activities of the club. As we continue to rebuild Blyth Spartans AFC, this role offers a unique opportunity to be part of something truly special at Croft Park.

Key Responsibilities:

First point of contact for general enquiries, including via email, website form, voice messages

Triage of enquiries, either dealing with them directly or signposting to others within the club

Arranging team coach hire for away games, ensuring communication of pick-up times and arranging coach hire payment

Management of all ticketing issues: administration of season tickets and overseeing online ticketing system for both men’s and women’s teams

Management and supervision of turnstile staff and stewards, including receiving cash payments, organising cash floats, curating hospitality and complimentary ticket lists on entry

General “the buck stops here” responsibility for running of the club and management of the stadium

The Ideal Candidate:

Well-organised with strong attention to detail

Experienced in the management of volunteers

Time-management skills to ensure deadlines are met

Able to work independently and also as part of a team

Good, clear communication skills and a diplomatic but firm approach to decision-making

A “can do” pragmatic problem-solving attitude
