Robbie Spence Signs for Spartans

Friday, 5 June 2026

Blyth Spartans AFC is thrilled to announce the signing of experienced midfielder Robbie Spence from Bishop Auckland.

The 31-year-old energetic box-to-box midfielder began his career at Team Northumbria in the Northern League, before moving onto Hebburn Town in 2018.

Throughout his 7 year spell at The Hornets, Spence made over 250 appearances and bagged 32 goals as Hebburn won secured 3 promotions up to the NPL Premier Division, while also winning the Durham County Cup and the FA Vase at Wembley in 2020.

Robbie had a short loan spell at Heaton Stannington during his final season at Hebburn, where he impressed and was recalled into the first team - helping them beat the drop at the end of the 2024/25 season.

He'd spend the 2025/26 season with Bishop Auckland, scoring 6 goals in his 30 games for The Two Blues.

Marc Nash was delighted to add more experience to his ranks:

We are getting a quality player that's tried and tested, we just had to address the lack of experience and Robbie ticks the boxes.

He's still fit enough to go box-to-box and can also chip in with a few goals, especially from set pieces.

We'll certainly have more physicality as an option as we looked a bit lightweight at the end of the season.

Welcome to Blyth, Robbie!
