Marc Nash Appointed First Team Manager
Thursday, 6 November 2025

Blyth Spartans are delighted to announce the appointment of Marc Nash, following Colin Myers' departure last week.
Marc joins the club after leaving Newcastle Blue Star 12 days ago, after a successful stint at Scotswood. Under his guidance saw Blue Star promoted from Northern League Division Two to Division One in his first season in charge, and last season saw his side narrowly miss out on promotion to the Northern Premier League East, losing on penalties to Blyth Town in the play-off final.
On his appointment, Marc said:
It feels good. I've had a little taste of it in the last week, and I've been impressed with the things that have been put in place and the help and support that have been provided. The focus is to continue the work that has been briefly started, and it's all about getting our heads down and grafting.
Nash began his career at Hartlepool United's youth academy before embarking on a 10-year spell across the Northern League as a player.
His first non-playing role was manager of Whitley Bay Reserves from 2010-2016, which saw him oversee one promotion & four cup wins across his tenure. In 2016, he was given the assistant manager role at the Bay, which he held for only a few months before being awarded the manager's job.
In 2018, Marc left Whitley Bay for North Shields and enjoyed a successful period at the Robins. In his first few seasons, COVID played a massive part, forcing North Shields to miss out on promotion by 0.01 PPG in 2021. In 2022, the Robins were finally promoted as they were crowned Northern League champions. In the same season, Nash guided North Shields to the quarter finals of the FA Vase, and he was awarded Northern League manager of the year, rewarding his hard work throughout that campaign.
Chairman Kevin Miles was asked about the appointment of Marc. He said:
We're delighted to welcome Marc into the permanent position here. We're very grateful for what he's done standing in for the short term, but also for the work that's been done in the academy. This means we have cemented an even further pathway for young players coming through into the first team.
We have every confidence in Mark and his team's ability to tackle the tricky situation that the club is facing in terms of the league table, and there's only one direction of travel.

The next season in the NPL East, the Robins placed seventh in the table, which was a great achievement for a newly promoted team, but unfortunately, they were demoted back down to the Northern League because their ground didn't meet league requirements. Marc would leave the club at the end of that season.
Marc is no stranger to Spartans, having been the Academy Manager since 2019 and has overseen a successful period at Blyth with teams reaching the first and second round of the FA Youth Cup in 2021 & 2024. There was more success with league title wins in the National League Youth Alliance Academy North in 2022 and in 2024, winning the National League Youth Alliance Division H.
Nash added with a message to the fans:
It's been a noticeable drop, but why not get back in for this new start. We'll be working our utmost to turn things around and start to get a period of stability in the short term, so please come out and back the club.
Make sure you get down to Croft Park this Saturday to back Marc and the lads.
