Harry Barclay is a Spartan

Blyth Spartans are delighted to welcome defender Harry Barclay to the club ahead of the 2026/27 season. The 22-year-old arrives at Croft Park after returning to football following a spell away from the game.
A graduate of Newcastle United's academy, Barclay has already gained valuable experience in the North East non-league scene, featuring for Blyth Town, Dunston and Newcastle Blue Star.
Predominantly a centre-back, Barclay is also capable of operating at right-back, adding further versatility to Marc Nash's defensive options.
Having previously worked with Barclay during their time together at Newcastle Blue Star, Nash believes the defender will be an excellent addition both on and off the pitch:
Harry is a player I signed at Blue Star after his release from Newcastle United and he was an absolute model of consistency. He got his love for the game back and was such a key player during that spell.
Unfortunately, last season he picked up an injury which also coincided with his firefighter training, so he needed to fully focus on his career away from football.
Now he's ready to return and I'm very happy to have him on board. He's such a good player and character to have around.
Everyone at Blyth Spartans would like to welcome Harry to Croft Park and wish him every success in green and white.
