Dobson: "The Perfect Response is in Our Hands

Friday, 10 April 2026

The disappointment of the derby defeat to Blyth Town is still fresh in the minds of the dressing room - but for Callum Dobson, the focus has already shifted to how the team responds.

“The result has really stuck with the lads,” Dobson admitted. “We know it wasn't good enough - not only for us, but for the fans as well. Words were said in the changing room afterwards, and now we've got a massive game on Saturday.”

That reaction has already been evident on the training pitch, with the squad determined to put things right.

“The lads have responded really well. Training has had a real buzz about it, and there's excitement building ahead of the home game. We know how important it is for the club.”

Dobson, who has been part of the squad throughout the highs and lows of the campaign, believes the progress made in recent months should not be overlooked.

“I've been here all season, so I've been through the full rollercoaster, but I couldn't be prouder of this group. The way we've turned things around in such a short space of time has been brilliant, and getting out of the relegation zone gives everyone a real boost.”

With survival now within reach, the goalkeeper is clear on what the next step must be.

“It's not just about responding to the derby defeat, it's about what's at stake. Depending on other results, we could complete the great escape, and I think that would be the perfect response for everyone.”

And Dobson had a clear message for the supporters ahead of what he describes as the biggest game of the season.

“Yes, be angry and frustrated about Monday, but come and support the lads and get right behind us. You're the 12th man, especially here at Croft Park. Let's make it a fortress again, because it's a special place to play when everyone is pulling in the same direction. Hopefully we'll see you all there.”
