Dan Lanning is a Spartan
Tuesday, 16 June 2026

Blyth Spartans AFC is thrilled to announce the signing of prolific forward Dan Lanning from Newcastle Blue Star.
Just 21-years old, Lanning finished up the 2025/26 campaign as Blue Star's top scorer with 27 goals in all competitions.
A product of the Park View Academy where he won several individual accolades, Lanning first broke into the first team at Newcastle Blue Star back in 2022 - aged just 17. Across his 4 season spell, Lanning notched 118 goals in 179 appearances - while achieving 2 promotions with the West End side.
Regarded as one of the best young strikers in the local non-league scene for several years, manager Marc Nash was delighted to be linking up with his former player once again.
Was a bit of a sliding doors moment as we'd spoken to a couple of forwards which didn't work out then I got a call from Dan to say he'd agreed his release and would we be interested?
When I left Blue Star Dan was the only player in the squad who I hadn't signed and he sent me such a nice message after I left, that stuck with me.
He's earned the right for a crack at higher level with some amazing stats which are there for all to see and we are delighted he wants to continue his journey with Spartans.
When players want to work with you again, it shows a great mutual respect so it's a great move for all parties.
Dan expressed his desire to start playing in front of the Spartans faithful:
I'm absolutely buzzing to get this over the line. It's a huge club with big ambitions and Im excited to be a part of what will hopefully be a memorable season. I can't wait to get started and play in front of a packed Croft Park. See you soon.
Welcome to Blyth, Dan!
