'Bowsa' is a Spartan!
Colin Myers is pleased to confirm the appointment of Steve Bowey as Assistant Manager for the upcoming season.
Steve, affectionately known as "Bowsa" in non-league circles, is a well-respected figure within the Northeast football community. His distinguished playing career includes spells with clubs such as Bristol Rovers, Queen of the South, York City, Ayr United, Harrogate Town, and Gateshead. Transitioning into management, he has held roles at Newcastle Blue Star in the Northern Premier League, followed by tenures at Consett, Dunston UTS, and Ashington. Most recently, he has been Manager at Chester-le-Street Town.
Commenting on the appointment, Colin Myers said:
Bowsa brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role. He's been there, done it, and earned the respect of players and fans alike. His energy and enthusiasm are unmatched, and I'm delighted he's agreed to join both myself and Derek as we work to reawaken this sleeping giant. His impact will be invaluable to both our senior players and the younger talent within the squad.
Bowsa spoke of his delight at the appointment and his determination to help get Spartans back to where they belong:
I'm absolutely over the moon - it's an opportunity I'm genuinely excited about. Both Colin and I are determined to get Blyth back to where the club belongs. I believe I bring a lot to the table. With the experience I've gained over the years, I want to help build something strong here again. Most importantly, we want to get the fans back on side and give them a side they can be proud of.
He joins the existing management team comprising Colin Myers (Manager) and Derek Forest (First Team Coach). Further announcements will follow in due course as Colin continues to strengthen and expand his backroom staff.
