Blyth Spartans support Careers Week at Castle School
Sunday, 15 March 2026

Players and staff from Blyth Spartans A.F.C. joined forces with Blyth Spartans Women earlier this week to deliver a football-themed session as part of Careers Week at The Castle School.
First-team manager Marc Nash and Women's team manager Linda Bush, alongside players Paul Dudgeon, Zach Simpson and Robbie Kinniburgh, Shona Ellis, Bethany (Betty) Rowell & Hayley Brown took part in the visit, helping pupils learn about careers linked to football and the wider sports industry.
The morning included football sessions and a penalty shootout, giving pupils the chance to take part in some energetic activities with the Spartans players.
Alongside the football, pupils also enjoyed a variety of creative activities including hot dog making, painting and football-themed playdough.
Chairman Kevin Miles said “It's great to see all parts of the club coming together in such a great cause.
As a community-owned club, Blyth Spartans AFC places a great emphasis on inclusivity, and it's been a privilege to be able to work with Castle School, a specialist provision for children and young people with severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties - many of them coming from Blyth.
The day with Blyth Spartans has been able to offer these young people a taste of football in a way not normally available to them, and it's just a start: we look forward to welcoming Castle School students and their families to Croft Park in the near future.
A big thank-you to the coaches and players from both the men's and women's teams - alongside club staff Colin Blackett, Gillian Blackett, Julie Danielson and Nichola Mcfarlane - for volunteering their time and energy.”
The club would like to thank everyone at The Castle School for their warm welcome and for inviting Spartans to be part of such a brilliant start to their Careers Week.
