Blyth Spartans Academy rounded off a historic campaign this weekend, boasting impressive league finishes and a record-breaking FA Youth Cup run that saw the lads reach the Second Round Proper.

The academy lads overcame current and former EFL outfits such as Bradford City, Rochdale, and Hartlepool United. The U18s' FA Youth Cup run was full of drama. The young Spartans showed real grit and character, winning two penalty shootouts away from home.

From last-minute equalisers at Rochdale, to penalty heroics from Max Campbell, and even a replayed tie against Bradford, the run had it all.

Academy captain Jack Daley reflected on his return to action and scoring in the prestigious competition after time on the sidelines:

Obviously i didn't play until the 1st round proper, also probably being around 75% fit with the problem in my ankle and hardly any training done prior to the game. But to come back and also score a goal was a great feeling, watching the lads from the sidelines was really tough, but to come back and contribute was special.

Jack also emphasised the talent and spirit within the squad:

We are a confident group who always show grit and determination, it's one of our values as an academy. We know what we want to achieve and to go out and do it as mates is even better.

The Academy side eventually bowed out to Accrington Stanley in the Second Round Proper, bringing an end to a truly memorable campaign and doing themselves and the club proud.

In the league, the Spartans U19s finished 5th out of 13, picking up some standout results along the way - including a 7-3 victory over league leaders Farsley Celtic, and wins against local rivals Gateshead and South Shields.

The Blyth Spartans U17s showed real promise this season, finishing 4th in a competitive league of 11 teams. They took points from the table toppers and beat several of the division's strongest sides on multiple occasions. This group will be one to watch going into next season, with an FA Youth Cup campaign on the horizon. Can the new crop step up and replicate the success of those who came before them? The talent within the academy is clear to see. We are certain they will continue to make Blyth proud going into the 2025/26 season!
