Academy Watch
Friday, 9 May 2025
Last night, a sunlit Croft Park played host to a showcase match in which a new crop of academy players were eager to impress against a side made up of this season's U17s and U19s, in front of a crowd of 200. The win went to the U17s and U19s, whose quality and experience shone through, but the new lads shouldn't be disheartened - they showed plenty of fight and should be proud of their performance.
Lead academy coach Marc Nash took charge of the new group for the evening, and we caught up with him after the match to get his thoughts on how they fared:
It's always a great exercise for any new players to see and get a feel of the standard within the academy. It's a step into a whole new football world, and it should make them realise that they have a lot of hard work ahead to reach the levels of the current lads. All in a positive evening to see them on the same pitch.
U17'S Wrap Up Their Season With A Win
In more academy news Spartans Under 17's defeated Yorkshire Amateur 2-0 this afternoon, to secure their 8th win on the bounce and wrap up a fourth place finish in the NLFA Division G.
Winger Gildo Da Silva and Centre Back Patrick Dolan were on the scoresheet for Spartans. Well done lads on the season, and hopefully you can carry this momentum into the next campaign.
