Match Photos | Blyth Spartans Reserves 1-0 Wallsend Boys Club

Blyth Spartans Reserves maintained their 100% start to the new season and remain top of the League following their fifth consecutive win. Blyth have been free scoring in their first four games, so Wallsend set up a two bank defensive wall in the hope to stop the attack minded Spartans. This tactic worked effectively as the young Spartans struggled to break through the Wallsend defence. Much of the visitors attacks came from the counter and they could well have taken the lead themselves, but fortunately for Blyth the Wallsend Strikers failed to hit the target from the many opportunities presented to them.

Blyth however, remained calm and patient throughout the second half and did eventually get their just reward on 89 minutes when a through ball split the resolute Wallsend defence for Blyth substitute R.Martins to run onto and calmly chip the keeper for all three points.
