Team News
Blyth will continue to be without the suspended Dean Briggs. Shay Richardson will also miss the last two games of the campaign
What We're Saying
Speaking after Saturday's defeat to Guiseley, Colin Myers said, “I'm over the moon with the effort the lads have put in today. We've come in today with a lot of injuries, suspensions, illnesses. But I think everyone today has put a shift in.”
“That was the game plan, to try and catch them cold early on (in the second half), we created a couple of chances and were just unlucky.”
Opposition
Whitby currently sit 17th in the Northern Premier League, six points above the relegation zone with two games left.
The Seasiders registered a vital win on Good Friday as they defeated FC United of Manchester 3-2 at Broadhurst Park, to ensure that survival was in their hands. Aaron Haswell scored twice and a Matthew Tymon added another as Whitby led 3-0, although two late goals from the home side ensured a nervy end to the game.
What They're Saying
Speaking after his side's win against FC United, Whitby Town manager Gary Liddle said, “Three points and that's all that matters and hopefully that goes a long way to being safe."
"I wanted to get the maximum points total out of our last four games, and we've waited until the most pressurised part of the season to put together our best run of the season and the lads deserve huge credit for that.”
Last Time We Met
The sides last met on Boxing Day in a 4-3 defeat for Spartans at Croft Park. The away side were 4-1 before late goals from Mitch Curry and Ben Milburn threatened a dramatic comeback.
