Redcar Athletic v Blyth Spartans | Saturday, 10 January 2026 - 15:00 | League

Blyth Spartans look ahead to a midweek clash with league leaders Redcar Athletic due to the original fixture being postponed in early January.
Since the postponement, Spartans have earned two victories against Bridlington Town and Grimsby Borough but lost out to the Steelmen's closest challengers for the league, Matlock Town.
As Blyth sit bottom of the table with their two most recent fixtures also being postponed, they can see this game as an opportunity to test themselves against the best side in the league and attempt to put more points on the board as they look to climb out of the relegation zone.

The Hosts: Redcar Athletic
Newly promoted to the league this season, Redcar Athletic have been in fine form; their free-flowing attacking play has led them to the summit of the NPL East.
Redcar are the leading scorers in the NPL East this season, having netted 95 goals in just 27 games due to their potent frontline consisting of Oscar Fletcher, Adam Boyes, as well as ex Spartans Bradley Fewster and Curtis Round.
Green Lane has been a difficult place for most teams to visit this season, with the Steelmen only losing one game on home soil, and as they are seven points clear of second place, they will be looking to extend that lead further when they welcome Spartans on Wednesday evening.
The Visitors: Blyth Spartans
Blyth's trip to Redcar is their first rearranged fixture since their convincing 4-1 win on the road against Bridlington. Against the league leaders, the task at hand is one that won't be underestimated by the Spartans, but they have shown their ability to mix it with the best the league has to offer at times this season.
Spartans have quality across the pitch, especially in attack, which they have recently bolstered through new signing Jamie Clark, who will be looking to make an immediate impact on his return to Blyth.
Marc Nash will be wary of the task at hand and the threat the hosts pose going forward. Four out of Redcar's last five games have been decided by a single goal, and that should give Blyth confidence that they are able to match Redcar if they can lean on the experience within the squad.
Last Time Out: Blyth Spartans 1-4 Redcar Athletic
The first game of the 2025/26 NPL East saw newly promoted Redcar Athletic travel to Croft Park to face Blyth Spartans, who were relegated in the previous season.
Redcar got off to a flying start, creating multiple chances that were excellently saved by Callum Dobson before the eventual breakthrough in the 20th minute, when Adam Boyes latched onto Oscar Fletcher's through ball and calmly slotted home.
Redcar doubled their lead minutes before half-time through former Spartan Curtis Round. Dane Burlace kept the ball alive and fired back across the goal with Round on hand to finish the move off.
Redcar picked up where they left off in the second period as Boyes lashed a volley past Dobson, grabbing his second and the Steelmen's third of the game.
Spartans responded well and managed to claim a consolation goal through Matty Slocombe. Some nice link-up play in midfield released Slocombe one-on-one with Josh Mazfari, and the midfielder kept his composure to fire home.
However, just minutes later, Redcar restored their three-goal advantage as Bradley Fewster latched onto Boyes' flick on and fired into the far corner, which handed Redcar a comfortable victory in Northumberland.

Noah Millington remains sidelined for the Spartans. Forward Jamie Clark is available to face Redcar tomorrow evening.
