The Hosts: Redcar Athletic
Newly promoted to the league this season Redcar Athletic have been in fine form, their free flowing attacking play has led them to the summit of the NPL East.
With many talented players across the front line such as, Oscar Fletcher, Adam Boyes and two ex Spartans Bradley Fewster and Curtis Round it is clear to see why they are the league's top scorers netting 82 goals in just 22 games.
The Hallou Sports Stadium has been a difficult place for most teams to visit this season with 'the Steelmen' only losing one game on home soil, and as they sit five points clear of second place they will be looking to extend that lead further when they welcome Spartans this weekend.
The Visitors: Blyth Spartans
Blyth find themself back at the foot of the league table after their New Years Day defeat but have an opportunity to bounce back and replicate the result on Boxing Day which helped close the gap to their relegation rivals.
Spartans also have quality in attacking areas with players such as Jack Foalle and Michael Fowler chipping in with goals in recent weeks helping Blyth claim four points in their last four matches.
Marc Nash will be wary of the task at hand and the threat the hosts pose going forward, however with teams managing to hold the hosts in recent weeks there will be opportunities for Spartans to take advantage of, they will need to lean on the experience within the side and believe they are capable of competing with any side in the division.
Last Time Out: Blyth Spartans 1-4 Redcar Athletic
The first game of the 2025/26 NPL East saw newly promoted Redcar Athletic travel to Croft Park to face a Blyth Spartans who were relegated in the previous season.
Redcar got off to a flying start creating multiple chances which were excellently stopped by Callum Dobson before the eventual breakthrough in the 20th minute as Adam Boyes latched onto Oscar Fletcher's through ball and calmly slotted home.
Redcar doubled their lead minutes before half time through former Spartan Curtis Round, Dane Burlace kept the ball alive and fired back across the goal with Round on hand to finish the move off.
Redcar picked up where they left off in the second period as Boyes lashed a volley past Dobson grabbing his second and the Steelmen's third of the game.
Spartans responded well and managed to claim a consolation goal through Matty Slocombe, some nice link up play in midfield released Slocombe one on one with Josh Mazfari and the midfielder kept his composure to fire home.
However, just minutes later Redcar restored their three goal advantage as Bradley Fewster latched onto Boyes flick on and fired into the far corner which handed Redcar a comfortable victory in Northumberland.
