What We're Saying

After exiting the Isuzu FA Trophy, David Stockdale said: “We tried a new formation, Louis [Stephenson] didn't play cause they didn't let us, Ben [Milburn] had to pull out and a couple of the lads were playing with an illness and tight bodies.

“Obviously we had the game on Thursday and I tried to rest as many as possible. I asked for energy and we got it in maybe the first five minutes.

“We played some decent stuff out from the back with Ryan [Donaldson] playing left-centre-half, who was trying his best for us, he was a bit of a make-shift, but we actually played some okay stuff.”

Opposition

The Blues sit two places and two points above the Spartans in the league table, 18th with 11 points, having won two and drawn three of their 11 league matches this season.

In their last outing, they also exited the Isuzu FA Trophy in the Third Qualifying Round following a 1-0 defeat to Mickleover Sports.

Last Time We Met

The sides last met in October 2014 at Harrison Park in a seven-goal-thriller as the Spartans emerged victorious 4-3.

After being 2-0 down at half-time, the Spartans pulled the game level through Neil Hooks and Stephen Turnbull. Robbie Dale then put Blyth ahead with his penalty before Jarret Rivers scored a fourth with 15 minutes left to play. Leek pulled one back as Andy Kinsey scored a penalty, but the Spartans managed to hold on to a 4-3 victory.
