Blyth are back on the road, travelling to West Yorkshire in a crucial clash against Garforth Town.

Spartans have struggled away from home this season, but will be looking to put things right against The Miners.

Colin Myers will be hoping his side can pick up their first points on the road this Saturday, with Spartans yet to pick up a point outside of Croft Park.

The Opposition: Garforth Town AFC

The club was established in 1964 as a Sunday league team named the Miners Arms.

The Miners joined the Elmet Sunday League, where they participated for eight years before joining the Leeds Sunday Combination in 1972.

The club was renamed to Garforth Town in 1985, and they were placed into Division Two after the league reorganisation.

The Miners had their best period in the late 90s, winning The Wilkinson Sword Trophy in 1996/97, they were also Division One champions a season later in 1997/98 and did the cup double in 1999/2000, winning the NCE League Cup and the West Riding County Cup.

The Miners haven't faced Spartans since September 8 2012. The Spartans were victorious, winning the game by a single goal.

One to watch

Someone the Spartans should be keeping an eye on this weekend is attacking right back Rinor Ejupi.

The fullback was man of the match for The Miners in their most recent game against Emley and had already scored two goals in five appearances this season.

Ejupi is part of a resolute back four that has allowed Garforth to draw all four of their league games this season.

From the Dugout

Paul Marshall is the man in The Miners' dugout. He was appointed manager in October 2019.

Marshall has a history of managing non-league clubs such as Harrogate Town, Bridlington Town, and Pickering Town.

Before taking the role as manager for The Miners, Marshall led Pickering Town to promotion into the Northern Premier League.

After an unbeaten start to the league season, Marshall will be looking to finally get a win on the board for The Miners to put an end to the draw rut.

What has been said?

Colin Myers was asked for his thoughts ahead of this weekend's clash with Garforth Town.

Here's what he had to say:

It'll be a tough game, as all away games are, and we need to step up on the road and start picking up some points. We can't rely on getting all of our points from Croft Park.

The crowd against Ashington were unbelievable. I would ask the fans to stick with us and keep backing us throughout the season, as it will get better.

The performance on Monday puts us back to where we should be at this point with our progress. The lads know what they need to do on Saturday.
