Blyth Spartans look ahead to a third fixture of the season against Pontefract Collieries as the latter make the trip to Northumberland for the NPL East clash.
Spartans return to Croft Park for the first time since their emphatic 4-0 victory over Grimsby Borough and will be looking to repeat that performance when they entertain Pontefract.
Blyth can close the gap to safety with a victory on Saturday ahead of a busy fixture schedule in February.
The Hosts: Blyth Spartans
Spartans come into this game with fresh legs after a two-week rest from league games with the prospect of another Croft Park victory ahead of them.
In their last three league games, Spartans have scored eight and conceded two, claiming six points against good opposition.
Blyth will be aware of the threat Pontefract pose, having already played them twice this season (once in the league and once in the cup), but have shown throughout the season and in recent weeks that they are a match for any side in the division.
The Visitors: Pontefract Collieries
Pontefract currently sit in sixth position, just three points separating them from a play-off spot and are currently on a eight game unbeaten run in the league, with their last defeat coming at the end of November.
Within that run, they have managed to defeat play-off rivals Heaton Stannington and Bradford (Park Avenue) on their travels, whilst also holding Matlock Town to a 1-1 draw.
Having already faced Spartans twice this season, Pontefract have claimed victories in both previous games, as they look to claim a play-off spot and extend their unbeaten run. They will be heading to Croft Park with confidence that they can make it three wins from three against Blyth this season.
Last Time Out: Pontefract Collieries 2-1 Blyth Spartans
The first league meeting between the two sides was played in October, after Pontefract had previously knocked Spartans out of the Emirates FA Cup in the preliminary round.
Spartans opened the scoring just 10 minutes before half-time, a loose back pass from the Pontefract defender allowed Euan Potts to capitalise and slot home in front of the travelling Blyth supporters.
Pontefract levelled the game on the stroke of half-time. The ball was worked well to the right-hand side, and a cross was whipped towards the back post, where Frankie Sinfield tapped home.
Pontefract were awarded a late penalty after Jake Dobinson brought a Pontefract player down in the box with five minutes left to play. Frankie Sinfield stepped up and converted to claim a double and three points for Pontefract Collieries.
