Blyth Spartans got back to winning ways on Tuesday night, picking up a fantastic victory against second-place Matlock Town.
Goals from Jeremy Pereira and Paddy McClafferty helped the Spartans on their way to their first victory since August.
Colin Myers' side will look to keep the momentum going after picking up four points against Emley AFC and Matlock Town as they prepare to face Ossett United this weekend.
The Opposition: Ossett United
Ossett United were formed on 1 June 2018 following a merger between Ossett Town and Ossett Albion, nicknamed the Sheepicorns.
The Sheepicorns had success in their very first season, winning the West Riding County Cup and reaching the play-off semi-final. However, financial struggles off the field led to several board members resigning ahead of the following season.
Before the 2023/24 season, Ossett United strengthened their board; however, since then, four managers have stepped into the dugout for the Sheepicorns after inconsistencies on the pitch.
This season, Ossett United currently sit in 12th place, having picked up 18 points from 15 games. With four points gained in their last two outings, they will be looking to continue their good form.
Player to Watch
Jack Crook has been in fine form recently for the Sheepicorns, scoring three goals in his last two matches.
A double away to high-flying North Ferriby helped Ossett on their way to gaining a point on the road, and he was also crucial in their recent victory, where they hosted Blyth Town.
The forward will be looking to continue his goal-scoring form but will face a tough test against the Spartans, a team in form defensively at Croft Park.
From the Dugout
James Walshaw is the man in charge of Ossett United, appointed in October 2024. He replaced Dave Wild, with the Sheepicorns sitting bottom of the table.
A quick change in results meant the Sheepicorns climbed out of the relegation zone and finished in 15th place for the season. Walshaw was rewarded with a new contract until the end of this season for his efforts.
So far this season, Walshaw has guided Ossett to 12th place, picking up 18 points from 15 games. With some big results over the season and a recent bounce back in form, it is set up to be an interesting affair at Croft Park.
What has been said:
Colin Myers was delighted with the Spartans' recent victory over Matlock Town.
Here's what he had to say:
It's fantastic, that's for the fans, the lads have put a real shift in tonight, and I think we've played excellently.
We've been working on starting each half strong, which I think we've been able to do in our last two games.
The lads are raring to go again on Saturday. If we don't get the result we want, we've wasted tonight's result. This has to be the turning point.

The new edition of 'The Spartan' will be available for Saturday's clash at home to Ossett United.
In this edition, there will be:
The Manager's Column, as Colin Myers talks us through recent results and what the fans mean to the team.
Jeremy Perera speaks on his recent move to Croft Park and how he has settled into the club.
Croft Park Chronicles covering Frank King's time at Spartans.
