Blyth Spartans look ahead to league action as they return to Croft Park for the first time this month to face The Villagers, North Ferriby.

Spartans were narrowly defeated in West Yorkshire on Tuesday night against a well drilled Pontefract Collieries side.

Marc Nash’s side took the lead just before half time through Ewan McGowan but were pegged back a minute later as Colls captain Jack Greenhough tapped home, Connor O’Grady sealed the victory for the hosts seven minutes into the second half.

The Opposition: North Ferriby

North Ferriby currently sit 13th in the NPL East having won two, drawn two and lost two of their opening six league matches.

The Villagers have played five of their opening six at home and were defeated in their only away fixture of the season which was at Garforth Town.

Ferriby also played on Tuesday night, they hosted Matlock Town at the Versa Sportswear Stadium but were beaten convincingly, goals from Jed Abbey, Declan Erratt-Thompson and Zak Goodson sealed a 3-0 win for the Gladiators.

From The Dugout: Chris Bolder

Chris Bolder has been in charge of North Ferriby since 2019 and is very well known around the East Riding of Yorkshire area having previously played for North Ferriby United in his senior career.

The former Hull City youth prospect also went on to feature for Grimsby Town, Ossett Town Guiseley and Scarborough Athletic.

Before being appointed as The Villagers boss, Bolder was learning his trade as assistant manager at Scarborough Athletic and fellow NPL East side Matlock Town but is now looking to drive Ferriby up the league and improve on last season’s finish.

Last Time Out: Blyth Spartans 2-2 North Ferriby.

Blyth Spartans were edging closer to confirming survival in a remarkable turnaround of the 2025/26 season but they were denied three points as North Ferriby held firm in Northumberland.

Chris Bolder couldn't have asked for a better start from his side as they took the lead inside the opening 120 seconds, Rio Molyneux burst down the left hand side playing a low cross into the area and Lewis Dennison tapped home from a yard out.

Marc Nash’s side responded on the brink of half time a deep corner was delivered by Kyle Downey and Paul Van-Zandvliet nodded home to bring the hosts back into the game.

Spartans took the lead in the 55th minute after another Kyle Downey corner caused problems for Ferriby, a goalline scramble saw Jack Foalle’s effort saved before Lucas Taylor poked home the rebound.

The Villagers grew into the game after falling behind and were rewarded with an equaliser in the 81st minute, a well worked set piece from the away side fell to James Williamson who powered home past Callum Dobson.
