Blyth Spartans return to league action as they prepare for a second Northumberland Derby in the space of nine days.

Spartans defeated NPL West side 1874 Northwich in the FA Trophy First Round Qualifying 2-0 thanks to a Jack Foalle first half double.

With Blyth still searching for their first league win of the 26/27 campaign they will be looking for a repeat of the result which they earned against The Highwaymen in the FA Cup just over a week ago.

The Visitors: Morpeth Town

Morpeth also known as The Highwaymen will head into this game having defeated Witton Albion 2-0 in their FA Trophy First Round Qualifier.

Morpeth have claimed five points from their opening four fixtures and currently sit in 10th place just outside the play off places in the NPL East Division.

After the FA Cup defeat at Croft Park, The Highwaymen will be looking to record a statement win and pick up their second victory of this campaign after being relegated from the NPL Premier Division.

Last Time Out: Blyth Spartans 2-1 Morpeth Town

Spartans advanced to the next round of the FA Cup after defeating the Highwaymen in a highly anticipated Preliminary FA Cup tie.

Spartans got off to the perfect start taking the lead inside of six minutes, a deep cross was headed across goal by Paul Van-Zandvliet and powered home by Olly Martin.

Martin then grabbed his and Blyth’s second in the 42nd minute a mixup at the back by The Highwaymen allowed the potent forward capitalise and slot home.

Spartans remained in control throughout the second half without adding to their advantage, Harry Gardiner did grab a consolation goal in second half stoppage time for Morpeth but it was Spartans who advanced to the next round of the FA Cup.

This copy includes a new ‘When We Wore’ looking back on Spartans 1974/75 invincible season where they also welcomed Preston North End to Croft Park in the FA Cup.
