What We're Saying
Speaking after the match against Ashton, Michael Connor said" “We seem to take a step forward then a step back.
"You look at Saturday, the two goals we conceded and the opportunities we had, it's the same story every week. I'm gutted about that performance tonight, there was just nothing in it, no meat on the bones.
“This is the worst period in my career ever. But we can't down tools, we have to keep going and staying positive. No one hurts more than me, I'm the manager and I'm a supporter. But we'll keep going, giving everything we have.”
Opposition
Mickleover are currently in 20th place in the Northern Premier League, three points from safety. Sports have won just one of their last six games.
Their last match was a 2-1 defeat at home to Warrington Rylands last Saturday. The visitors took a 2-0 lead into to the break thanks to goals from Matthew Regan and Alex Kiwomya, the home side threatened a late comeback when Dylan Edwards scored a penalty in injury time but it was too little too late.
Last Time We Met
Spartans and Mickleover met at the Raygar Stadium in September as the hosts on the day won 4-0. Stuart Beavon scored within the first 10 minutes, whilst Dylan Edwards scored just before the break.
Within three minutes of the restart, Marcus Barnes added a third and Jahvan Davidson-Miller scored the fourth in injury time.
