Spartans will include midfielder Ben Pentland in the squad for the 1st time. Ben was signed from Birtley Town before Thursdays deadline. Dean Briggs is back in the squad following his recent injury.
What We're Saying
Following the defeat to Matlock, Michael Connor said: “The first goal, there was meant to be a minute of extra time and it was in the third minute they scored and I said to the referee at half time, you've got that wrong, he agreed, so that just sums that up.
“The second one was it a soft penalty, he went down very easily, hasn't he, the kid has looked for it and got it.”
Opposition
After their most recent match, the Silkmen were crowned champions of the Northern Premier League Premier Division and will play in the National League North next season.
In their last outing, Macclesfield defeated Bamber Bridge 2-1 at home after they went 1-0 down in the first half.
What They're Saying
After securing the league title, Robbie Savage said: “I'm overwhelmed by emotion, you know it's the players who deserve every bit of credit.”
“We knew how much was on the game, I read out messages from the fans in the team talk; there was no need for tactics or motivational speeches today.
“First half we never really got going, we looked a little bit frightened and a bit scared, I thought the occasion was getting to us and at half time I said listen this is not us and if we lose, lets lose having a go at it.”
Last Time We Met
At the Leasing.com Stadium in November, Blyth were defeated 6-0 on the road through a goal from John Rooney, a brace from Danny Elliot and a hat-trick from D'Mani Bughali-Mellor.
