Blyth Spartans will be looking to bounce back from their midweek defeat to high flying Liversedge as they welcome West Yorkshire side Garforth Town to Croft Park.

Spartans had won five league games in a row before facing The Sedge on Tuesday but were narrowly beaten despite a late surge after the hosts were reduced to 10-men.

Spartans do however remain unbeaten when playing at Croft Park this season and will be looking to extend that record further against The Miners.

The Visitors: Garforth Town.

Garforth Town, also known as the Miners, currently sit 10th in the NPL East division having picked up 20 points so far this season.

The Miners last fixture was on Wednesday evening against Guisborough Town, unlike Spartans last weekend Garforth couldn’t get the better of The Priorymen being defeated 2-0 on the road.

This continued a poor run in October for Garforth who have only won one of their last four which was against bottom of the league Hallam as they cruised to a 3-0 victory.

From The Dugout: Paul Marshall

Paul Marshall was appointed Garforth Town manager in October 2019 with the club in the NCEL Premier division.

Within his seven years managing The Miners he guided them back to the NPL East in 2023/24 after defeating Albion Sports in the play off final.

Since their promotion Garforth have become a regular figure in the NPL East and have proved to be a difficult side to beat recording back to back ninth placed finishes.

Last Time Out: Blyth Spartans 0-0 Garforth Town

A huge game for Blyth Spartans who knew three points would secure safety in their penultimate home game of the season.

The first clearcut opportunity fell Blyth’s way as Jack Foalle neatly touched the ball around the defender but couldn’t slide his effort home.

Garforth tried their luck from distance throughout the first half but Callum Dobson was on top form keeping the scores level.

A goalmouth scramble almost handed the Miners the lead from a set piece but Spartans managed to deal with the ball and clear it away.

Zach Simpson almost fired into the top corner from the edge of the box but Harry Flatters positioned himself excellently to keep the ball out.

Dobson was once again called into action late in the game as Rinor Ejupi broke in behind the Spartans defence he managed to earn Blyth a point saving the forwards effort with his foot and point proved to be pivotal at the end of the season with Blyth surviving relegation.
