Blyth Spartans have the opportunity to bounce back from their recent defeat to rivals Blyth Town as they welcome Garforth Town to Northumberland.

This is Spartans penultimate home fixture, they will welcome Bridlington Town to Croft Park next week before ending the season in Bishop Auckland.

Spartans still remain in control of the relegation fight but they will have to use their recent home form to their advantage in order to confirm their safety as soon as possible.

The Hosts: Blyth Spartans

Spartans were unable to back up their narrow victory over Silsden when they made the short trip to Gateway Park on Easter Monday.

Spartans remain four points above the dotted line and they could confirm their place in the NPL East for next season if Ossett United lose on Friday night when they travel to Heaton Stannington, Blyth must beat Garforth on Saturday and hope that Bishop Auckland do not beat Blyth Town.

Spartans reacted to their recent defeat to Newton Aycliffe and they are going to have to dig deep to do so again as they look to complete the league double over Garforth Town.

The Visitors: Garforth Town

Garforth sit ninth in the NPL East having claimed 53 points so far this season, 28 of those points have been won away from home.

The Miners have struggled for form recently only picking up four points from their last five league matches and having lost their last three consecutively by a single goal.

Garforth enjoyed their last trip to the North East as they defeated Ashington 4-1 back in November and they will be hoping for a similar result when they face Spartans this weekend.

Last Time Out: Garforth Town 0-2 Blyth Spartans

The end of August was the last time the sides met with Spartans travelling to West Yorkshire looking to claim their first away victory of the season.

The blustery wind affected the style of both sides, limiting the amount of clearcut chances on display in the first 45, Garforth enjoyed more of the ball with Spartans defence setting up well to deflect any threat from the hosts.

Callum Dobson was called into action in the 70th minute to prevent the Garforth forward from converting, then Spartans broke the deadlock as Jesse Gomez fired home in the 82nd minute with a sweet strike into the bottom corner.

Garforth pushed for the equaliser late on but Blyth would claim all three points in stoppage time as Benji Shodeinde linked up nicely with Jack Wilson and the former slotted home in the 92nd minute.
