Mauro is a product of Park View’s academy where he made an instant impression breaking into their first team before joining National League side Gateshead on a dual registration in 2023. He continued with Park View for another two seasons before moving to Whitley Bay in the first tier of the Northern League. Whitley Bay finished in the play offs with Asikaogu keeping 16 clean sheets across 42 matches, they also won the Northumberland Senior Cup beating Heaton Stannington in the final
