Ewan joined Spartans this summer from South Shields, Spartans fans may recognise the surname as his brother Will also used to play in green and white. McGowan made 20 National League North appearances for Shields and spent parts of last season on loan at Consett AFC and Blyth Town. Another midfielder who is comfortable on the ball, front footed and likes to find space in between the lines, McGowan has shown Spartans fans in pre-season a glimpse of what he can offer the team.
