Harry Gardiner joins Spartans on loan from Sunderland

Blyth Spartans are thrilled to confirm the loan signing of Sunderland under-21 forward, Harry Gardiner.

The 20-year-old links up with Jon Shaw’s side on the back of netting five goals in eight appearances in Premier League 2 action this campaign and will be a welcome addition to bolster the Club’s firepower up top.

Gardiner has risen through the youth ranks at Sunderland in recent years and has amassed 48 appearances in the under-18 Premier League and Premier League 2 competitions, scoring 19 goals overall.

Commenting on the arrival, manager Jon Shaw, said: “We’re really happy to bring Harry Gardner in and I’d like to thank Sunderland for their assistance getting it over the line for the weekend.

“I know Harry from when he was younger, he joined South Shields Academy before quickly being snapped up by Sunderland.

“Back then we could see he’s a goal scorer, he has a very good understanding of where to be and a great attitude.

“He’s spent four years developing and has become a key figure at the under-21’s level and I’m looking forward to seeing him prove himself in first-team football.”

The deal sees Harry join on an initial one-month period and he will be available to make his debut away at Bishop’s Stortford tomorrow.

Welcome to the Club, Harry!
