Cedric Main returns to York following loan spell

Blyth Spartans can confirm that Cedric Main has returned to his parent club, York City, following a highly successful loan spell at Croft Park during the first half of the 2023/24 campaign.

Having departed Northumberland in the summer to make a step up to the fifth tier, Main had only featured during pre-season for The Minstermen before completing a switch back to the North East in late August, 2023.

Main went on to appear in 16 fixtures for Spartans and contributed nine goals alongside six assists to the side in Vanarama National League North and Emirates FA Cup action.

Throughout his two stints with Blyth, Main was undoubtedly a fan’s favourite, scoring crucial goals, as well as setting effort and performance standards.

Manager, Jon Shaw, commented on Cedric Main’s departure: “Unfortunately we lose Cedric as he returns to York after his loan has finished.

“During his spell here this season Cedric has shown how capable he is, he’s been a big player for us at times and will no doubt be a miss but we wish him the best back at York and will keep a close eye on him.”

Everyone at the Club appreciates and is greatly thankful for Cedric’s contributions and wishes him the utmost best as he aims to embark on gaining regular game time in the National League with York City.
