Blyth Spartans is delighted to announce the loan signing of Cedric Main from National League side York City until January, 2024.
He linked up with The Minstermen during the summer after his contract was mutually agreed to not continue beyond the 2022/23 campaign, however, he has not appeared in a competitive fixture since joining the side.
The 26-year-old forward first signed for Spartans in September 2022 and amassed 39 Vanarama National League North appearances for the Club last season. He scored six goals in the process too which proved to be pivotal in securing the Club’s Step 2 status.
A highlight for Main was an exceptional four-goal haul in the Isuzu FA Trophy second round against Buxton to help Graham Fenton’s side progress in the competition.
Subject to league and FA clearance, he will be in contention to make his second bow for the Club against The Bucks on Saturday afternoon at the Tarmac Silverlands Stadium.
Speaking on the signing, Graham Fenton said: “Delighted to get Cedric back, he was one of only 2 players we lost who we were disappointed to lose, but understand why he took the opportunity to sign at a club a league higher.”
“Hopefully he can recreate the form he showed in the last 2 and a half months of the season, he’s capable of causing big problems at our level.”
Speaking on rejoining the Club, he said: “I’m happy to be back at Blyth, it was a very easy decision for me as I know Graham and the players from last year already!
“I also know what I get from Graham as a manager, so I’m very pleased to be back and can’t wait to get going.”
Welcome back to Blyth Spartans, Cedric!
