Blyth Spartans are delighted to announce that Daniel Maguire has been awarded the Port of Blyth Player of the Month award for February.

Alun Armstrong’s side continued their winning run from the start of January, going on to win 11 Evo-Stik Premier League games in a row – as well as seeing off close neighbours Blyth Town in the Techflow Group Northumberland Senior Cup semi-final – before falling short of breaking a club record for consecutive wins with a 2-1 defeat at Spennymoor Town in February’s final fixture.

Spartans winning run saw them claim vital wins away at Warrington Town and fellow title challengers Stourbridge, while heavy home wins were dished out against Hednesford Town and Corby Town – as well as a 5-0 demolition of Ilkeston.

While Blyth continued their impressive run right up until just before the end of the month, club top scorer Maguire was able to draw all of the individual plaudits – as he extended his goalscoring run to ten games in all competitions and passed 20 league goals for the season during that time.

Maguire will receive his award prior to the game against Skelmersdale United at Croft Park on March 18.
