Tom talks – after the Rushall game

“A point at Rushall on Saturday was probably fair from both sides’ point of view,” thought Blyth manager Tom Wade.

The game was not one for the purist although Wade was quick to praise a vocal Spartans support which stuck with the side for the full 90 minutes.

Wade continued: “It was a bitty match which wasn’t enjoyable to watch. But getting a point down there at this stage of the season is a plus for us. They are a very physical side. We tried our best but were found lacking.

“Both sides went for it but if it wasn’t destined to be a draw it would have been one nil either way. We got stuffed there last season so our performance at the weekend shows how far we have come since then but the play offs are now probably out of our reach.

“Having said that we will be giving it a right go on Tuesday at Matlock.”
