Saturday’s victory at King’s Lynn could have been by a bigger margin than the 3-1 scoreline, suggested manager Tom Wade.
“After Robbie[Dale} put us ahead in the first minute we could have scored another two or three before King’s Lynn got into the game,” he said. “They put us under the cosh for 20 minutes and we weren’t helped when we lost Ryan Hutchinsion mid-way through the half with an ankle ligament injury. But we had a good chat at halftime and knew we were bombing on too much and failing to protect the back four so we needed to adjust.
“It paid off because although King’s Lynn were a hugely physical and intimidating team we stood up to them well and actually played some fantastic football and score two cracking goals through Danny Parker and Nipa [Daniel Maguire]. We could easily have scored more and were denied a blatant penalty. It could have finished 5-1.”
Wade praised debutant Stuart Bramley who replaced Ryan Hutchinson.
“He did exceptionally well,” said the Blyth boss. “He’s strong and fit and certainly didn’t look out of place. It was a great first game for him.”
Injuries may prevent midfielder Matty Wade and defender Jordan Watson from playing in tonight’s game against Ashton United while Hutchinson is likely to be out for several weeks.
