Tom talks – after the Farsley Celtic game

Blyth boss Tom Wade was satisfied with his side’s showing in their final pre-season friendly against Farsley Celtic at the weekend despite losing 1-0.

“Obviously conceding early on wasn’t great but it was a good work out for us. At this stage of things it’s all about shape and fitness. We made nine changes during the game to have a good look at options. It’s true that we didn’t create enough chances but it’s still pre season and in addition Nipa [Daniel Maguire] has just returned to the club and he needs to train on and regain his sharpness which will return when he gets a few games under his belt.

“We will be different when we shift in to competitive mode when the season starts. When we have nothing to play for we tend to over- play a little but we will play fast attacking football when we get going properly.

“This week we will have a final squad fitness testing and try and make it a fun week generally. The lads are a bit down after Saturday’s match so we will be putting that right.”
