Blyth Spartans players will look the part on and off the park now after a sponsorship deal with construction and building company Aggregate Industries. The company who have a number of sites in the North East including one in Ashington will see their name and logo on the back of matchday polo shirts to be worn by the Spartans squad.

The company have also purchased two sponsor boards which can be seen at Croft Park around the perimeter of the famous old pitch. Furthermore along with long-term sponsors Quantum Elite, Aggregate will be the match sponsor for Sunday’s FA Cup First Round clash with Altrincham as Spartans look to further enhance their reputation as one of the most famous Non-League names around in the history of the competition.

Peter Capps, a Factory Manager for Aggregate Industries and pictured above with Spartans defender Nathan Buddle was delighted to be sponsoring Spartans. He said “We just want to get out into the local community and to be fair we aren’t very well known in this area. Being a football guy myself we wanted to support our local side and that is Blyth Spartans. We hoped to forge a partnership with the club and I am delighted to see that happening”

Capps also revealed that he was impressed with what he had seen at Spartans so far. “We were at the Darlington replay that Spartans won 3-0 and it was a great night. I do hope to get to some more games in future and hopefully see more wins”

Spartans chairman Tony Platten was happy to have Aggregate on board and stressed the importance of sponsorship for the club.

“Every sponsorship whether local or national is of the upmost importance to Blyth Spartans. This one with Aggregate Industries is really very positive and it improves the spirit of the players with the polo shirts because it just makes us look that little bit more professional. When a new company comes along it is always a positive for the club and when it is someone who is as enthusiastic about football as Peter and Aggregate are it makes it all the more worthwhile”
