Blyth Spartans can announce the signing of highly promising young ‘keeper Matty Hunter.
The 17-year-old is currently studying at Monkseaton Academy and has joined the Spartans for their pre-season training, under the watchful eye of new goalkeeping coach Carl King.
The talented ‘stopper’ is also part of the English Schools Football Association England under-18 team and is predicted to have a bright future in the game.
Manager Steve Cuggy commented “We’re pleased to get Matty on board, we’ve been aware of him for a while now and were keen to get him signed. He played for North Shields in the Northern League as a 16-year-old and has come on leaps and bounds since then.
“Carl King has worked with him quite a bit and has been highly impressed. Matty comes with great pedigree and possesses all of the attributes to be a top ‘keeper.
“All of the goalkeepers will be given their chance and it is up to them to seize the opportunity. Gav and I think that this level of competition between the ‘keepers, can only bring the best out of them”
Welcome to the club Matty!
