With National Volunteers’ Week well underway, we spoke to vice-chairman Kevin Scott about how vital our volunteers are to the Club.
He said, “In 2000 I extended my involvement with Spartans from being a pure supporter also to help manage the Club, I then got a realisation of how many volunteers were required to run the Club. To say the least, it got quite complex, where there were around 26 volunteers some dealing with more than one responsibility. This confirmed it was not just a case of dedication to do the job but the commitment reliably to turn up on the day and make it happen!”
He then went on to say, “There are also a number of other volunteers that importantly cover ‘behind the scenes’ tasks on non-matchdays and it makes you realise how pivotal the volunteers are to the running of the Club, there is no doubt about it that without them the Club could not function.”
“It is most fitting that on National Volunteers’ Week that we acknowledge the importance and dedication of our volunteers. From the media team to the programme sellers, from the medical cover to the stewards and much more. On behalf of the Club and our supporters, we thank them all for the work they do for Blyth Spartans.”
