Striker Sonny Andrews completed his loan move from Spennymoor Town on Friday afternoon but he wasn’t the only new addition at Croft Park when he made his Spartans debut on Saturday. New ‘Blyth Spartans AFC Official Supporters Club’ chairman Iain Charlesworth and Supporters Club committee member Doug Ramsey were on hand to raise a Spartans flag prior to the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League fixture with Kings Lynn Town. The flag will be flying high during every Spartans home game and Charlesworth revealed it is the first of a number of planned changes.
“The Kings Lynn Town game was the first for the new BSAFC Official Supporters Club. We felt it only right that after finding the flag in the club shop it should be raised to mark the start of what we hope will be a bright future. The Spartans flag shall rightfully fly high and with pride above Croft Park during every home game from now on. We hope to gradually introduce new changes over the coming months and hope the rest of the Green Army will come on board”
He continued “After a period of lows at the Spartans, the relegation from Blue Square North and a period of inconsistent team management, fan numbers and enthusiasm diminished rather. The excellent decisions by the Board, in the appointment of Tom Wade as manager and Colin Myers as his number two are clearly paying off on the pitch. Couple this with the newly refurbished social club, with a new manager, and things are certainly changing for the better. We hope our changes will continue this upturn in fortunes”
