National League Trust Tournament – Spartans Under-11s

Spartans under 11’s from a combination of two schools in Blyth received the opportunity to play in a tournament organised by the National League Trust.

The two teams were selected in December after the result of a tournament held at Croft Park in partnership with longtime sponsors, and friends of the club Port of Blyth.

In the local tournament, Bede Academy ran out triumphant whereas, in the girls category, Malvin’s Close Academy were the overall winners.

The National League Tournament which was ran by Hartlepool United, saw the girls play four games, where they emerged winners in one, drawing two and losing once. They scored 12 goals in the process and finished third, just missing out on the final by two points. Despite not making it to the final hurdle, this was a fantastic achievement with the team having never played together before the tournament.

The boys won all of their four fixtures in the group stage and topped their table, winning 3-1 in the final.

The North of England section in Chesterfield awaits next month following their triumph, where if they are to win, they have the potential to progress to the final in a North versus South national.

Many thanks to Port of Blyth, everyone involved and Darren Maguire for organising the day.
