Dan Langley returns to Spartans on loan

Blyth Spartans are delighted to welcome back goalkeeper, Dan Langley, to the Club on an initial one-month loan from National League outfit Oldham Athletic.

The 6ft 7ins shot-stopper linked up with Graham Fenton’s side earlier in the season on a non-contract basis and made a sole appearance in August’s Bank Holiday local clash against Spennymoor Town, keeping a clean sheet in a 2-0 victory at Croft Park.

He has also trained regularly with the side before his appearance and after, following the conclusion of his six-year spell with Newcastle United in the summer.

In early November, Langley penned a deal with Oldham Athletic until the end of the season to bolster their goalkeeping department but has yet to feature for The Latics in a competitive fixture.

Alex Mitchell recently suffered an injury to his knee which has forced him out of action for an unknown period of time.

Commenting on the situation, Graham Fenton said: “Al is in the hands of soft tissue experts to see if there’s any meniscus damage to his knee.

“In the interim period, Dan became available to provide cover in the area and it’s great to have him back at the Club.

“We’ve been delighted with Michael (Hogan), but in the background, he has also had a thigh injury so we’ve just had to cover basis to make sure we’ve got enough support in goal.”

Welcome back to Blyth Spartans, Dan!
