Blyth Spartans are delighted to announce that Robert Dale has been awarded with the Port of Blyth Player of the Month award for October.

October started with a disappointing 0-3 loss at home to Warrington Town, to inflict Alun Armstrong’s first defeat as Blyth boss. However, Blyth would go undefeated for the rest of the month, with four wins and a draw in the Evo-Stik Premier League and a 1-1 draw at Goole in the Buildbase FA Trophy.

During that winning run, the Spartans’ captain returned to his majestic best with an unbelievable solo goal in the 3-1 win over Ilkeston FC, before doubling up with a deflected effort in the club’s 2-1 win over Stourbridge.

Reflecting on his award, Dale said: “It’s great to win the award, but it was more important for the team to get back to winning ways.

“It was good to get back amongst the goals again but, after the poor run we had been on, we had to put that right. With six games unbeaten in October, it goes a long way to doing that.”

Dale will be presented with his award prior to Spartans’ league meeting with Stafford Rangers on Saturday November 19.
