Arrival | Ritson signs on loan from Hull

Blyth Spartans are pleased to announce the arrival of Hull City defender Lewis Ritson on loan until January 2020.

The 20-year-old joins having captained The Tigers at every level – most recently the under-23s – and has appeared on the bench for the first-team at the start of 2019 during their Championship fixtures.

Ritson, a South Shields-born lad, has been with Hull since the age of 16 but will head to Croft Park for the first loan of his career.

Blyth Spartans manager Lee Clark spoke of his joy after sealing Ritson’s signature and provided an insight as to what is to come from the defender when in Northumberland.

“I am delighted to secure the loan signing of Lewis,” said Clark.

“Lewis is a very aggressive centre-back and a natural leader being captain Hull City under-23s.

“He will add height and aggression to the group and also add a presence from set plays.”

Ritson will go straight into the squad ahead of Saturday’s National League North fixture with Bradford (Park Avenue).
