CHRIS McCABE – FEBRUARY 2009 The month started badly for the Spartans in February with a horror show which saw the Spartans beaten by fellow relegation battlers Burscough, better was to follow with a spirited display (albeit we still lost) at Fleetwood and a battling point at high fying Alfreton Town. This was helped in no small part by the return of midfield talisman Chris McCabe who put in…

The Spartans recent points-fast, and Dunn’s own public criticisms, seemed to galvanize his penitent team into producing a performance of considerable diligence. A draw against the League’s form team was both very welcome in terms of Blyth’s precarious position in the table and in the…

Dunn Blasts Blyth!

It was never likely to be a game characterised by stylish play or full of individual brilliance – and it certainly wasn’t. Blyth lost two nil against Burscough at the weekend with the Spartans lying third off bottom of the Blue Square North and their visitors one place below them. A scrappy affair was expected and that indeed came to fruition. Actually ’scrappy’ makes it sound better than it was….
