Another dazzling performance and another happy Tom Wade.
Having witnessed his side’s comprehensive 4-1 demolition of visitors Stamford on Saturday the Blyth manager said: “The win was very very convincing. Stamford are not a bad side and, after the first 20 minutes when it was a bit of a tight affair, we dominated and created many chances.”
Matty Wade seized on one of those chances to send a stunning volley in to the top corner of the Stamford net on the half hour.
“Wadey certainly did take it really well. He and Steve Turnbull having been playing very well together recently. A true partnership is developing and with Wadey winning the tackles it allows Steve to play more,” said Wade.
Blyth’s second goal was not stunning in the way the first was but it stunned the visitors as a back pass was completely missed by Stevens in the Stamford goal.
Wade commented: “We have all seen things a bit like that before but not as bad as that one on Saturday! I actually felt for the lad because he was having a good game. It’s simply hard to judge the bounce off the pitch at the moment.
“We were able to push on from there and our third goal was from a great piece of team play. Dan Hawkins, on as sub at an unfamiliar position to him of right back, overlapped with pace and got in a brilliant cross. Michael Richardson was there to get on the end of it to score but he must have made 50 yard run to get in to the box. It showed superb attitude and skill.”
Daniel Clements pulled one back for Stamford before Dan Maguire sealed the victory for the Spartans with a cool lob.
The Blyth boss said: “Nipa [Maguire] is one of the most improved players we have this season. We’ve asked him to do some things a bit differently. His hold up play has improved immensely and this is benefitting Richardson. Nipa deserved his goal. He, Robbie Dale and Jarrett Rivers are unplayable at the moment. They must be the best front three in the league.”
Blyth are likely to be without centre back Jordan Watson for tomorrow’s home game against Ilkeston. He picked up a hamstring injury in the Stamford match. Fellow centre back Danny Parker may return after a hip problem while Matty Wade hopes to shake off a quad issue. Striker Ash Davis, following his return from playing in the States, could feature on the bench.
