Tom Talks | After the Ilkeston game

Manager Tom Wade complimented Tuesday’s visitors, Ilkeston.

“They were one of the best sides we’ve played this season,” he said. “They’ve lost a little of their cutting edge from last season but have some excellent players and are well organised. At times in the game we were ‘out-footballed’ and that is very rare.

“But we did have the best of the chances and deserved to win. We looked a bit jaded and a couple of the lads had off-days. We’re still missing several players and December to January is always the toughest part of any season but we’ve got through despite having lost players to injury. Not many teams could have carried that situation.”

Wade was pleased for captain Robbie Dale on the occasion of his 100th goal at Croft Park.

“It was a huge moment for him. He had a good game overall – always a threat. Robbie is now a much more rounded player. His set plays are getting better and as is his defensive work.”

The Blyth boss also had praise for the Croft Park crowd.

“It was fantastic to see so many fans at the game! They stuck with us through the game and that makes it so much easier for the players.”
